Call for Meetups 2021 (Round 2)
Emtiyaz Khan, Louvere Walker-Hannon, Olivia Muza, Jacqueline Forien, Ryuichiro Hataya, Rodrigo Beceiro, 2021 Meetup Chairs.
Note: We are reopening the call for meetup 2021 for a second round (you need not apply if you applied for the first round which was due on July 1, 2021).
NeurIPS organizers are committed to providing new avenues for the NeurIPS community to engage, to open up access to communities worldwide, and to connect participants by geographic area and language.
We are therefore looking for meetup organizers and sponsors to volunteer to create a network of NeurIPS meetups around the world. To ensure a smooth experience for all participants, we encourage you to submit proposals for meetups. We will select some of them to be advertised and promoted as official meetups.
NeurIPS 2021 meetups are expected to be virtual by default due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but an in-person, physical meetup can be held depending on the local laws regarding such meeting. It is essential that the organizer inform and seek permission from the meetup chairs, who may allow a physical meetup in consultation with the NeurIPS organizers and board.
To submit a proposal, please fill out this form.
Deadline for submitting a proposal: October 5, 2021, Anywhere on Earth (AOE)
Notification of acceptance: October 25, 2021
How Will Proposals be Judged?
Proposals will be judged based on these criteria:
- Community engagement (e.g., statement on diversity and inclusion, promotion of local ML initiatives, local events and socials, serving regions with low access to ML conferences, etc.)
- Organizing team (e.g., organizational expertise, past experiences in organizing such events, ability to attract volunteers, etc.)
- Content (e.g., broadcasting a large part of the conference: orals, keynotes, tutorials; hosting local speakers, posters, workshops, and tutorials, etc.)
- Proposed schedule (e.g., one or more days during or around the time of NeurIPS 2021)
Code of Conduct
Selected meetups will be an official part of NeurIPS, and organizers must require each participant to sign the NeurIPS Code of Conduct.
If you are an organization and wish to sponsor (but not organize) a NeurIPS meetup, please fill out this form.
